"If the chipsets are only available in Q4 it takes at least another quarter until there are motherboards available."

It depends on what they mean when they say available. Do they mean available to the OEM? Or to the public, in which case it would be on a motherboard. AMD tends to use the former for desktop processors and the latter for mobile processors, but they aren't all that consistent. I don't remember how they use the word "available" with respect to chipsets...

Re: Hm, isn't that a little bit late? If the chipsets are only available in Q4 it takes at least another quarter

VIA, SiS, etc, had to be told by AMD to shift their public availability dates for Hammer chipsets from Q2 to Q4. Those chipsets (if on schedule) will be here in plenty of time to support Hammers on the shelves of Best Buy in Q4 - but all will have to go well for that to happen. It may be that desktop chipsets will be coming from VIA, etc. and that the 8000 series from AMD is, for the most part, the "MP" chipset. The MP systems will follow single processor systems, with multiprocessor systems coming after that.

Andreas, Looks like SD shops now over 50% of CPU sales. This is good for AMD and bad for dell and Intel. IMO.
Probably a high % with no OS, wink, wink.
