I think everybody feels the jury is still out on what will happen in the OVER/Google battle.

Having looked at them both:
1) I have to say that the google interface is much better. It is extremely burdensome to try and list 15 phrases to search on with overture. Then you have to wait and see if they want to hassle you. I put up one phrase they rejected saying it was not relevant but anybody that knows the subject knows that it is extremely relevant. Suppose, for example, you are selling a widget and there exists a zaper that can only be used in conjunction with a widget. You list zaper as a keyword and it will be rejected by some secretary that knows nothing about widgets. Also the wait is indefensible.

2) Overture does have a better database. By that I mean that overture has many more hits for a phrase than google seems to have. Also overture seems to mine deeper. You ask for a suggestion and overture is able to pull up more phrases that relate to you and have hits than google.

3) Placement with overture seems better. It is at the top and you are able to say a sentence or two in your description. Google is on the side in a small box and you only have two 35 character lines to say everything.

4) I haven't seen it yet but the placement thing may be a real big issue with google saying you will not get top billing even if you pay for it.

5) Google has a great idea with the daily budget thing.

Bottom line: Overture still has a better database but they really have to tune up their customer interface and get out of the impossible business of deciding what is and is not relevant.
