Genesis Microchip reaffirms revenue guidance
SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb 27 (Reuters) - Microchip maker Genesis Microchip Inc. (NasdaqNM:GNSS - news) reaffirmed its revenue guidance for the fiscal fourth quarter on Wednesday and said revenue would rise slightly in the first quarter as margins hold steady.

San Jose, California-based Genesis Microchip said it expected sales in the fourth quarter of $55 million, with fiscal 2002 sales over $160 million. The average estimates of brokers surveyed by Thomson Financial/First Call was for fourth-quarter sales of $50.7 million and full-year sales of $158 million.

For the first quarter of fiscal 2003, the company forecast sales of $60 million. The First Call estimate had been for $52.5 million.

The company also said it expected pro forma operating margins of 44 percent over the next two quarters.

Shares in Genesis Micro closed up 2.3 percent at $41 on Nasdaq. Their 52-week high is $74.90 and their 52-week low is $7.13.
