Headline: Clinton helped Enron finance Projects Abroad

The story says that the Enron received $1 billion in subsidized loans during the Clinton Administration. The story also states that between 1993 and 2000, the U.S. helped finance 19 of 20 Enron (overseas) projects.

" May 1996, Mr. Clinton lauded Mr. Lay as a good "corporate citizen" at a White House event because of Enron's enlightened personnel policies, including profit-sharing of Enron stock ..."

Now to be fair, in 1996 getting stock in Enron wasn't such a bad idea. And I would assume that part of an Administrations job is to assist American Corporations in foreign trade and business deals. I am also assuming that these projects were mostly in developing nations, where risk is so high that the Government usually does help subsidize these types of projects.
