How does UltraEdit compare to EditPad? I currently use EditPad for web page editing and perl/mysql programming in Windows (and I use kate in Linux, fwiw, and while I'm at it vi* and emacs both sux0rz<g>), and I find that it's a perfect text editor.

If you "don't know", do not say. There is free trial period.
Excuse me, but comparing UEdit32 to Notepad is like
comparing DOS 2.0 with RedHat 7.2. I do not understand your
prejudice.

Gottfried,

Now you would say 50¢ won't make it for the producer that will receive something like 40¢ net per copy, a check in the mail every month for the total copy sold in the month. Well, out of more than 100M windows system running, if he got 10% of them, that make possible for a good programmer to make a good $4M projects and make a living.

Hmmm... If an average user has 5 programs installed on his machine, there would be need for 500M programs, at 50 cents each, you would have the entire revenue for software industry of 250M, supporting about 2500 programmers on the entire planet where you live.

What planet are you living on BTW? When you come to Earth one day, let me know, we can have a drink. You will be paying. Here, on earth, drinks are about $5 each, or $10 for each of us. You will have to sell 20 copies of some software to pay for the drinks, here on Earth.

Joe

Try the free trial period of 45 days.

Personally, I find UltraEdit well worth the $35. Next to Opera (browser) and Eudora (email), it's probably the program I use the most (not counting my OS).

Coincidentally, all three programs cost roughly the same. $35, $39 and $40 - although I have to admit that I skimped on the Eudora fee and am using it in the "Sponsored" mode.

Another odd fact: UltraEdit is the only program I use on a regular basis that I've never had crash (I haven't upgraded to version 9 yet and don't have any immediate plans to do so).
