nothing. absolutely nothing. it has no meaning of any kind as a predictor of the future and as a record of the past has had little value in coping with the bear market. as to its components, we could have a hundred post debate on the individual components, hedonics etc. and lastly, it does not suggest in any manner how the values of the market can be rationalized as sound, let alone the ever more hungry debt pile feeding at the underbelly of the nation.
