I'm going to give people a little jumpstart. AMD claimed to have "world class yields". If you plug in sqrt of 129mm2 and ~.35 for the defect density you'll be fairly close to "world class". The spreadsheet starts off with a default defect density of .5 but good fabs can do better so I use the lower number. Also AMD said they have about 200 raw die on the wafer so you can adjust the edge die parameter as well. You see where I get my estimate of 130 athlons per wafer if AMD is truly "world class". You could also figure out how Intel's products would yield if they were running at an equivalent defect density. I make no claims whatsoever though about Intel. I'm just saying you could figure out roughly the yield if they are running at the equivalent of what AMD claims to be running at. Intel could be better or they could be worse. Combining that with the wafer cost will give you a fair estimate of die cost.
