I think Mirant's price right now will look ridiculously cheap in a year, unless we fall into a depression. A depression is a low probability event; the Fed will do everything in its power to prevent it, including giving away money -- like buying up mortgage and corporate bonds. Americans, unlike the Japanese, know what to do with money: they spend it.

I agree with you that we are witnessing indiscriminate institutional panic selling of IPPs. Given their experience with Enron, the techs, etc., I don't blame them. A crowd of institutions is no better than a crowd of investors.
