I do not know what Mr. Chomskly believes or does not believe. If he states he is an atheist, imho, he cannot be a Jew. However, I have never read any statement by him that uses a faith he does not have (if what you say is true about his atheism) to criticise or support Israel. If he did use Judaism and it's beliefs to justify Israel's occupation of Palestine, then you and I could agree that he is confused and hypocritical.
