Open interest is not updated until the next day so those are all new positions. You'll see big open interest there tomorrow.

I noticed the same thing on the April 98 calls. Seems like a big straddle position is being initiated.

Not a lot.

Large volume plus a reduction in OI implies closing of a position.

OI = total number of open positions
Num of longs= Num of Shorts = OI

Volume = contracts traded (whether opening or closing)

In reality you should look at change in OI with volume and price.
