You said it, Nikita. In fact, I have bonds and reits, but I'm shying away from gold and I don't know what ets is. The key is TRUE diversification to help you ride out the storms like this one.

1.Goverment Bonds (Short, Long, Inflation adjusted)
2. Gold
3 Real estate or REIT's

I will go with #2. I think it's foolish that people here think that we are soooo much smarter than our great grandparents and/or grandparents or even the Japanese - whose Keynesian policies were based on American consultants, the same ones advising us now!

When and if a major insitution goes down (my bets are on JP Morgan), I would expect the mattress stuffing and gold to become very popular again.
