Edit: Message meant for Art Bechhoefer.

Clearly your 1% per day doesn't compound, or after 10 years you'd own every cent on the planet! Still must have made you a very wealthy person.

The algorithm is proprietary, but I can tell you that it is based on work done originally to predict the changes in direction of incoming enemy missiles in order to be able to target them with a fair degree of accuracy. The algorithm is sensitive to sudden changes, even very small scale changes, and is able to react very quickly to those changes.

Thus, if a stock was going up, but for whatever reason appeared to be leveling off, the algorithm would be able to monitor any change, and more important, tell to a fair degree of accuracy whether the change was spurious or really amounted to a change in direction.

As I noted, at the very least the theoretical basis for the algorithm is stronger than what one sees in typical TA charts. Obviously, such an algorithm can only work in situations where the number and size of individual transactions are small enough not to have an immediate affect on the stock price.

The algorithm, currently under test, is used in conjunction with online trading programs so that the user need not be present for initiating purchases or sales. These are done automatically, throughout the day. The 1% or better gains are calculated after deducting all expenses.
