This was announced by Michael Dell, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Dell Computer Corp., and Dr. Jurgen F. Strube, Chairman of the Board of BASF Aktiengesellschaft, during a visit by Michael Dell to BASF in Ludwigshafen. The introduction of a worldwide corporate PC standard is part of BASF's "Fit for the Future" program, which is designed to streamline the company's communications and business processes. By standardizing on a single PC platform, BASF is lowering its PC hardware and service costs. Applying its unique custom factory integration service, Dell will supply all computer systems "ready to run" with BASF-specific hardware and software, providing BASF employees with global access to their familiar applications.
