yes, Nasdaq is market cap-weighted (unlike DOW which is price-weighted). i'm sure the grisly details are available at the naz site.

When Cisco & Dell & Microsoft, etc. had insanely high market capitalizations, I think I remember hearing frequent complaints that the actions of hundreds of "little" stocks in the NAS index ...

really did not matter at all.
