Ok, help me out here. What would be the point of shipping a chipset without the processor? Samples, sure. But production?

The point would be to have the boards complete, ready to plug in the processor. But that's not the issue. The issue is that no one can project out 10 months with any certainty and the clever wordsmanship coming from AMD is offering too much implied granularity to be believable. It's like they're saying "we'll have 50K of production material on their doorstep on Dec 20th but we don't have any visibility into their production schedules so we don't know if they'll ship product in Q4". That's what I call blowing smoke.
