Network firmware (~500 pages in tight knitted Z80 assembler), extreme memory constrain (both for pgm and data), real time heavy load constrain, multi-host multi-terminal (pollable)... on a 4Mhz no-dma single-Z80 system 24 UART ports.

But my best accomplishment was the time-sharing system for the university all home made deserving ~400 terminals on the campus, in the 70's.
