What's a Model C? Piqued my curiosity. I recall the failed transition from the wildly successful II to something that was too complex for most to handle on a daily basis -- as I recall it changed the leading between characters, and looked great -- like a typesetter -- unless one made a mistake and had to fix it. Was that the C, or the Selectric III, or something else? I'd welcome your knowledge and insights.

I'm interested in this era of the technology, partly because of its success, and because it may demonstrate the transition from an undisputably fantastic product that dramatically improved productivity and was an engineering marvel (the II) to one that people initially felt a need to adopt, but which turned out to be more of a headache and loser for everybody because of its complexity and lowered productivity (the III). Thoughts, opinions?
