And a damn sight more intellectually honest and moral than the current band of thieves in Washington.

BTW, after the U.S. Revolutionary War, Paine went over to France to engage in fomenting revolution. He managed to get caught, and while languishing in a French jail, he contracted tuberculosis. He wrote a letter to President Washington in order to seek a pardon. When the letter arrived, Washington tossed it in the wastebasket without even opening it. Washington had no use for a rabble rouser like Paine. Fortunately for Paine, VP Adams picked the letter out of the trash and took action.
