The bulk of .18u capex was spent in 1999 and 2000. On a 5 year depreciation schedule the capacity is not even close to being fully depreciated.

Granted, I'm no Economics wiz, so maybe I'm looking at things from an uneducated point of view, so please forgive my ignorance, but for me..... the issue of depreciation vs. cost vs. time vs. blah blah blah.... I don't care. The revenue that those fabs have generated for intel, has made that return on investment a good one.

We've had a saying at startups.....

"The Fab pays for itself in the first quarter of the ramp."
