Brocade Eyes China's Storage Area Networks Market
February 22, 2002 (SHANGHAI, China) -- Brocade Communications Systems Inc., a U.S.-based global provider of infrastructure for storage area networks (SAN), recently announced that it will set up a SAN development center with a Shanghai company.

According to Greg Reyes, Brocade chairman and CEO, the strategy of teaming up with the Shanghai Post and Telecommunications Equipment Holding Co., Ltd. shows the company's confidence in exploring the SAN market in China. Reyes claimed that with the fast growth of China's telecom industry, China's SAN market will be vibrant.

With the expansion of the Internet, companies are facing the challenging task of storing, managing, administering and providing access to an increasing amount of business-critical data.

According to Brocade's forecast, the global data storing industry will realize a market value worth US$50 billion, 80 percent of which will be generated by the SAN technology.

The market in Asia will be a strong boost to growth. It is estimated that by 2004, revenue from the market in China is expected to jump from 2001's RMB3.5 billion (US$422 million) to RMB30 billion.

<CSCO's money flow was very negative ...as compared to other high tech generals>

In longer time frames , and in any significant trend change, the "generals" usually move in sync. That's one of the benefits of that exclusive club... none of the "brethren" are left far behind.
