CB,

Say what? Your comprehension skills are ebbing. Or maybe you are spinnng? Arianna clearly states in the title to her piece what the purpose of our intervention is. Sending our troops to protect Oxy. And you have the gall to spin it as aiding a foreign damsel in distress? How perfectly silly of you to think you can get away with that Orwellianism.

Re: The US isn't going to get involved in military action unless a US interest is at stake.

That's the only true statement in your post.

BTW, Clinton committed $1.4 Billion to the Columbian suppression of its indigenous freedom fighters before he left office. I know it's not "much" but it sure as heck is "interest".

We haven't had a US president take much of an interest in Latin America in quite a while.

US Special Forces has been directly involved in the drug war in south America for at least 15 years.

a man, i have known since he was four years old, is, today, a Special Forces Captain currently deployed south with his A team...on their second deployment in 90 days to a different country...the men had 2 weeks between trips and spent every day getting ready to go again...there was almost no home time.
