Re: There are still not many folks on the planet that we can track down that have either used or seen a working Thoroughbred core CPU, although I did see non-working TBred in Las Vegas at Comdex in November.

Perhaps he was jealous of those who were allowed to view the demonstrations.

AMD has demonstrated a sample of their AMD "Thoroughbred" which is the successor to Palomino. It measures 80mm² in die size based on 0.13 micron technology compared to 129mm², 0.18 micron of the Palomino. Thoroughbred will have a Performance rating of M2400 which relates to 1.93Ghz and will start to appear in Q2 2002.

Tony - You posted On the other hand we are hearing that AMD and their .13 micron technology is not coming along so easily or at least that is what someone told me in a note that was passed during algebra class today. AMD when directly questioned on this does not have much to say but it is our guess that they are not finding .13 micron process to be as easy as Intel has. There are still not many folks on the planet that we can track down that have either used or seen a working Thoroughbred core CPU, although I did see non-working TBred in Las Vegas at Comdex in November. Come to think of it, Jan Gütter showed me a non-working TBred in Germany last year at CeBIT. Damn, don't they have any that work!!??

Would you please not bring up discussions of a technical nature which might reflect poorly on AMD's technology?
We must help Dan3 focus on his imaginary financial witch hunt so he can feel better about his $12+ AMD stock.
Monica

The Northwood shortage claims ought to be treated as the sky is falling or the boy that cried wolf type stuff from now on. Just too much evidence saying Northwood is fine.

2 NW 2.2GHz systems on display at Fry's Tempe store. 31 Intel systems total to 2 AMD.

Almost all shortages that we were hearing about in December on Intel CPUs seem to be disappearing with the exception being some of the lower end P4 CPUs

-- Yeah, DARN, they just can't seem to make any of those SLOW speed ones. The darn things mostly all keep binning high..... Sigh.....

but it is our guess that they are not finding .13 micron process to be as easy as Intel has.

-- EASY?..... EASY?? Where the HECK did this guy get the idea that it was "easy"? intel's Development and Process Engineers were doing 70-80 hour workweeks for MONTHS and MONTHS and MONTHS to get this thing working and transplanted. Easy MY FREEKIN BUTT!!!!!!

-- TECHNICAL EXPERTISE, HARD WORK, AND BUSTING THEIR ARSE DID IT, NOT SOME FREEKIN.... "EASY".

What A Schmuck..... Whew! I feel better... Done with rant.

although I did see non-working TBred in Las Vegas at Comdex in November. Come to think of it, Jan Gütter showed me a non-working TBred in Germany last year at CeBIT. D*mn, don't they have any that work!!??
