What makes sense then is the open disclosure for which Qualcomm may well be the "poster boy" and GE is planning a similar "openness".

I haven't looked at Q lately. As I recall, in years past they were doing a pretty good job of excluding the bad and including the good in their pro forma earnings reports. Even Mike Buckley, a huge Q fan, felt compelled to point out QCOM's inconsistent treatment of investment gains versus treatment of investment losses. (Please don't make me hunt down Mike's post.)

The "poster boy" for honest, forthright reporting to shareholders is Warren Buffet, period. The tech execs (actually all execs) look pretty lame in comparison. Probably isn't fair to compare anyone to Warren though.
