I saw the article, it was personally delivered to me, much to my delight. My daughter, who is in middle school, read it with great interest. Like many theories, it isn't perfect, but it is very good. What it doesn't really cover in detail is how strung out some of the alpha girls are. I know the mothers of some alpha girls- and these girls are obsessed with staying where they are. There is no joy at the top. They are nervous and stressed out. I think my daughter may actually have a better life as whatever she is (an iconoclastic, group hating, do her own thing, intellectual band geek?). Anyway, she is never stressed about clothes, never asks me to take her shopping, doesn't want to wear make-up, and is pretty much totally satisfied with the designer clothes I buy her (unless they are too "sexy"- read anything lower cut than a crew neck, or higher cut than the knee), in which cased she makes me take them back- no bikinis for my daughter- but she did allow me to buy her a tankini this year, but only because it shows no tummy. I'm very happy with her,and I think she is pretty happy with herself. She doesn't like being called names by the alpha girls, but we talk about that a lot. She will be marvelous in college, and most of the alpha girls won't even get to college. Many of them will be lucky if they graduate high school without getting pregnant. They already dress like prostitutes and they are only in middle school! And I hope my daughter continues to be the modest person she is now. I certainly wasn't like that- but I try to validate it, without being repressive. I drove my parents absolutely mad at her age. And my mother was so hopeful I'd have a daughter just like me. heehee
