<<I was told that Barrons' influence is mainly on retail investors, no significant effect on the institutions. This would be compatible with the theory that retail is always wrong..>>

As a long time observer I would suggest that the purpose of Barrons (Bear-ons) is to influence retail investors - for the benefit of professional establishment short sellers.

No absolute correlation, but significant.

Barrons is two publications. It has useful data. It has a clear "slant" - and that is to drive down prices after it has a "story". No proof of that. Just that it seems to happen like clockwork.

BWDIK.

Best.

Chaz

PS And I must admit some unease that Barrons on line has a story on Qualcomm which discusses Qualcomm in a "fair" way.

Assume this is the exception which proves the rule - i.e unrelenting omission of Qualcomm as even a player in wireless except for a bete noir reference from time to time.

Sort of like the curse of being on the cover of Time.

Hope this is not a straw in the wind that Qualcomm is past its prime despite all objective substantive info.
