Sprint PCS explaining 3G wireless to "mere mortals" (from the Sprint PCS website) :

(I know this is "old hat" to us "hardcore" Qualcomm aficionados, but -- I still thought it was worth posting ...)

Please read my post again. We're saying the same thing.

There is no backward looking judgment on my part--simply a response to John Shannon's implied criticism that Q should not be investing in CDMAOne carriers because it is a legacy technology, a point I think is in error because of the need for carriers who can't afford 3G technology to use capacity enhancing service, like CDMAOne. These carriers are mostly Third World carriers, hence Q's investments in them.

The Q cannot forget the lower tiers of the telecom market. There is still a lot of growth there. This is what John Shannon apparently doesn't realize.
