Obl, You bet. Since the stars are generally graded on a 2 year performance record, it means that whatever brain dead, locked in style a guy was using, it is now finishing its turn in the barrel. I still hark back to the old Kiplinger's May 1995 article on closed end funds. Of the six "gurus" quoted, and I was one of them and cannot be totally objective, the worst selections, by a long shot, were from Morningstar. Next worse were the two CEF analyst geeks from a firm I am now employed by. They are no longer with the firm, having ruined enough clients to be offered better paying jobs at other firms. But the new analysts don't seem much better. "Buy what worked last year" seems to be their motto.
