wanna_bmw - You wrote to Dan3 But speaking of custom or proprietary code, if Intel will have trouble getting people to upgrade with their specific optimizations (as you seem to think), then how the frick do you expect AMD to convince them to program for x86-64? My guess is that Dan3 assumes that AMD is such an overwhelming powerhouse in servers that every server user under the "sun" will willingly rewrite their code for AMD's compelling hammer architecture. Only problem is - there is no compelling hammer architecture at this juncture. M
