Why the market tanked last Thursday afternoon (from RMYPro): "Doug Kass Hedge Fund Losses and Liquidity Concerns at Computer Associates 2/21/02 10:24 PM EST I have confirmed that selling by major convertible hedge fund is believed to have been responsible for part of this afternoon's market weakness. Apparently the fund experienced large losses over the last three months." online.wsj.com So it looks like that big selloff might have been caused (artificially) by this. If this hadn't happened then the inverse head and shoulders bottom the NDX was forming Tues-Thursday might have actually worked. Doh!
