<<Can't even congratulate us without throwing in a back-handed put-down?>>

And here I read it as JRI insulting those of us South of the Border for not caring enough (or even understanding enough) about hockey. . . the King of Sports in the Winter Olympics. But if you want to read as a back-handed put-down, that's your right as an insecure Canadian <g>

Great hockey game. Fine Olympics. But my "16 Days of Procrastinatorial Glory" are over. What the hell am I gonna do with myself now?

*OT* No put down...really....its just that Shack's comment about it being as big over here (in selected cities) is a REAL STRETCH, if not totally inaccurate..

Likely, the TV ratings in places like Detroit and Pittsburgh will be higher than my comment suggests..but c'mon, in your country this is likely going to be the HIGHEST rated TV event of ALL-TIME. By comparison, Stanley Cup matches (on "National TV" nonetheless) in the States draw ratings (total) below even mid-summer meaningless baseball games....and this match will likely be a big winner in some cities, but nothing like major sporting events here...

This is not an indicement of the sport (good or bad)..look, I like soccer, and the ratings are somewhere near hockey's, and they are abysmal...

I really see no reason why Canadian should hate Americans any more (or less) because of my comments....there was no offensive meant, and certainly none should be taken. In general, I would say the "rest of the world" (not you in particular) are as over-sensitive about the U.S. as Americans are in sticking their foot in the mouth (or someplace else where it doesn't belong...

Don't be so touchy...

He was only goofin' around with friends.

Why don't you go out and celebrate instead of telling us
Americans why we are not liked.

Besides, we are not even half as snooty as the French... <vbg>
