Now, that we have gotten rid of the Taliban, I read that Afghanistan has reverted to its old ways: growing poppies for heroin export, feuds between the war lords who like to rape young boys, although I read that the sexual liaison between older men and young boys is quite common.

In a sense, Afghanistan is reminiscent of Vietnam...it's hard to tell the difference between the good guys and the bad guys. So we pick one [or they picked themselves]and we call the other ones "the good guys". It's amazing to me that the US plan for stability is to provide the "good guys" with a modernized military capability. Care to guess how that moderinized army is going to behave in the long run.

Thanks. All is well out here. I saw a little of the olympics, though not much. I was on travel and busy with events when I returned.

BTW, the Brits are having a good chuckle over the invasion of Spain. One gent said, with a smirk, it all goes back to Henry VIII.
