Goddamit... Just ask yourself that simple, obvious question: Who are you defending Europe against? Their Russian friends? Their growing immigrant lumpenproletariat? The Chinese? The Martians? From all of the above, and each other. Before the US umbrella of protection was established, the Europeans repeatedly attacked each other, and were over the centuries attacked from the east and south. No country even contemplates, let us say, invading France because they know the U.S. would come to its aid.
