Yes but what is scary as hell is...
The consumer is spending on credit cards and using home equity that they've taken out of their homes due to all the refinancing going on. And in the past few years, they have been spending their stock market profits which no longer exist.

Now that's scary! Especially with the soaring bankruptcy rates in late 2001 which are expected to continue into 2002...

I live in an extremely affluent area of the country, and the number of new benzs, bmws and lexus' on the road is MY consumer indicator <g> As well as the fact that houses over a mill are not being built as fast as they were a few years ago...

And the SALE signs are still all over the mall stores, the sales are constant now, no one is willing to pay full price.
