Maybe we could combine the law and sociology.

We could enact a law that says that America can only be described as a "Predominately Christian nation." I would favor that violation of this statute be a misdemeanor rather than a felony.

If we can't call ourselves a Christian nation because only a majority, not a totality, of our citizens are Christians, then we can't call ourselves a freedom-loving people, because there are some people here who don't love freedom. Nor can we call ourselves a capitalist nation, because part of our economy is socialist.

In fact, I'm not sure there's ANYTHING we can call ourselves.

Well, that, yes. But not on a family thead.

Ah, but you suggested that there be tests to determine who is and is not a Christian. Given the performance of the population in other areas, I think we would find we are a nation of wannabe Christians- -at best.

And there are always Christians who claim other Christians are not Christians at all.
Are Mormons Christians?
That Waco group?
Catholics? There are Protestants who claim they are not because they practice idolatry.
How about Muslims? They accept Jesus as a prophet.

The Jehovah's Witnesses claim that only 144,000 shall get into heaven. And that's worldwide. If they are the only Christians (and I wouldn't consider that an unreasonable claim), then even if all of them are US citizens, we are NOT a Christian nation.
