>>"Yes, there is much dissatisfaction. Do you think civil war would be better? The advent of an Islamicist regime? The conquest of the Arabian peninsula by either Iraq or Iran? We deal with situations as we find them....."<<

Can't resist this one....You are on to something.....Saudi Civil War followed by invasions by Iran/Iraq followed by "We deal with situations as we find them..." and you, Wolfowitz, Kristol, Pearl...etc., get your dream. The Middle East becomes the 51st state! I like it. Write an article for the "Standard" to get it started.

It's complicated and I have no answers. But this "axis of evil" thing is pointed at three countries that are hardly an axis. Not like the Nazi, Italian and Japanese axis in the 40s. North Korea is making peaceful overtures to the south. Iranian moderates are gaining a voice. Iraq, I agree, is "evil" if you want to call it that. None of those countries played as significant a role in 911 as the Saudis, yet they are not included in the evil axis. I guess because they're an important player in the oil axis.
