It would only be in the generation succeeding the Apostles that a need to create a formula would be felt, based on their teaching, and widely recognized. Obviously, you will do as you please, but I do not consider myself a Christian because I cannot subscribe to the Creed, so the issue means something to me. Christianity has a history and a content, and, if you believe in God's Providence, He would not let the content become totally obscure.......

I don't see why we should kowtow to what second century Christians, none of whom knew Christ personally, tried to define Christianity as

Since we are now in the 21st century and what those second century Christians selected has more or less been the Christian tradition for 1900 or so years it would seem that it has a good claim to the word Christian. Yes other interpretations and ideas are possible but if we are to call them all Christian the word becomes very vague. It might be best to use another word for these other ideas.
