And if one has a ...say..German father and Irish mother, both immigrants, it gets even more complicated, doesn't it?....

or German & French, Irish and English GreatGrandparents, German & French and English Grandparents who immigrated to America....
their children (one's parents) had children IN America....

So does that make them Americans....Americans with wonderful family heritages, but nontheless, Americans.
