"...converts on his deathbed..." There are scriptures that attend to this phenomenon. It apparently goes both ways. A pious, sinless, old guy might be confronted with the first real temptation when on his death bed and ooops, down he goes. There is a scripture that qualifies this by stating that, even though such a measure could result at the point of death; a plan to live a life of sin hoping to be pleasured by worldly enticements right up to the death bed stage where you make the appropriate repenting jestures...will fail.
