Those cro-magnons living on your block are indeed a challenge to evolution to date! But if you admit some change, call it progress or not as you will, from Neanderthal and Cro-magnon (I forget in which order they came) to homo sapiens, the question is whether we are allowing the process to continue without intentional intervention to the next level, whatever that may be, or whether we are interfering with nature's process of natural selection to such an extent that we have defeated the process of natural selection.
