But start by thinking life as having purpose(s)other than the continuance or pleasure of biological functions. Of course, evolution, as I understand it, is concerned only with continuance of the species. If you can then imagine keeping someone from realizing their goals or purpose but keeping them from death in the process. Are you suggesting that for this person death at this time may be their purpose in life,and that therefore saving their life is defeating their purpose? Am I getting the point? I want to understand the point before I contemplate it.
