Depends on where you live... I had a friend who put himself through college on his Federal Firearms License, selling pistols and rifles. 21 years old and an arms dealer... :0)

But he used to carry a bullet launcher on his hip wherever he was permitted (couldn't do it on campus), sometimes even into a grocery store (which made all the other folks a bit nervous). It's legal, and sometimes makes a heck of lot of sense if you fear you'll be accosted by someone.

Personally, I would rather they be legally carried concealed to prevent the foreign press from trying to ridicule, but the right to bear arms is exactly as it states in the constitution. It there to provide the everyday American the means to protect themselves and to prevent the onset of tyranny.

That doesn't mean they shouldn't be regulated and registered, with SEVERE penalties for those who use their personal weapons for criminal purposes.

OT: Usefulness of handguns. I won't go hiking in certain areas not far from where I live because there are animals there that might eat me. If I did go hiking there I would want a weapon. Rifles and shotguns are heavy - I don't want to own either, anyway, because I'm not a hunter - a powerful handgun I could wear would be quite practical.

Don't want to get further into the debate.

Why would you be carrying a handgun on the seat of your car????
If you had been black, do you think the officer would have been as nonchalant???

i carry a gun everyday, and i keep it handy. it is a habit...a good one for me.

yes...but i would not call it nonchalant...my behavior was perfectly legal. i was being polite by pointing out the weapon..it was in open view so i did not have to say anything.
