Walter might be one of the few INDEPENDENT board members who can rock the boat...

Are not most Enron stock holders upset that their board of directors didn't voice their concerns when management wanted to do something they didn't agree with?

What if a board member at ENE had come out against some of the crap and said "Enough is enough!"? What if Ken Lay and other Enron insiders attacked the board member for their lack of qualifications to run Enron rather than their opposition to the deal they felt was bad for the stockholders even if they felt it was OK the week before? Enron shareholders might still have some value today if this happened.

Think about it... The whole argument put out by HP seems more like politicians pissin on each other rather than defending the deal on its merits.

I find the whole attack of Walter offensive and completely against the HP way. Carly lost me when she went on the attack of Walter rather then defend the deal on its merits. HWP didn't use to do business that way. They would NEVER allow sales people to say "SUN has reliability problems" if a customer asked "why buy HP over Sun?"... They were supposed to be more subtle and say "HP has great reliability. Read this survey and see for yourself" where the survey would show how the competitors did.

Funny how I was for the merger when announced but I have pretty much decided to vote the green (against it) proxies.
