I thought it was excellent. It was done by the director/writer who did "Rushmore". This has Gene Hackman as a ne'er- do- well father, Angelica Huston as a supermom who raised talented children, Ben Stiller as the financial whiz kid, Gwyneth Paltrow as the (adopted) playwrighting prodigy, Luke Wilson as the premature tennis burnout, and his brother, Owen Wilson, as a Wannabe Tanenbaum who writes novels. Danny Glover is mom's new suitor, an accountant. Dad has not seen the family is years, but he hears that his wife might have a new beau, and he decides to fake a fatal condition to get back in their good graces. It is kooky, hilarious, and ultimately moving, as, in spite of themselves, their pretensions and neuroses, they work things out. There is a scene where Gene Hackman and Angelica Huston take a walk in the park that is quiet, and yet one of the best representation of how people who have been married a long time, and know each other very well, behave........
