Lakers,

<< However your definition of immature and my def of immature may be different. >>

I don't think they really are all that much different.

<< The CDMA part in the GSM1x are way mature now >>

I agree.

<< the most challenging parts are mostly software and higher layers thing. >>

I agree.

<< The intersystem stuffs are both somewhat untested, be it GSM1x or WCDMA/GSM >>

I agree.

<< One thing I agree with you is that GSM1x is carrier driven. So hope Q can make some carriers make the move. >>

I think you and I are both in agreement that Unicom COULD (might) be the primary driver, and hopefully they will be.

Egads. We haven't agreed so much in a single exchange of posts for ages. <g>

I do think that Unicom will explore alternatives (continuing overbuild of CDMA in GSM coverage areas, consolidating all CDMA - and perhaps even GSM - on a single core network). You might disagree with that.

Nice post, btw, several days ago on defining GSM1x - but we DO disagree a bit on cellular history as usual (the big "splash" and what resulted and why). <ggg>

Best,

- Eric -
