....Novell has attempted to transform its executive ranks in the aftermath of
its $266 million acquisition of technology consultants Cambridge
Technology Partners, completed in March of last year. Current Chief
Executive Jack Messman was formerly chief of Cambridge. Once he
replaced Schmidt at Novell at the close of the deal, Messman installed an
executive staff made up largely of Cambridge colleagues.

Schmidt has since joined Web portal Google (news - external web site)
as its chief executive.

Nelson was a remnant of Novell's old guard, having spent eight years in a
variety of roles at the company. Sources close to the company said he
was reluctant to leave Novell at the time of the Cambridge deal because
of a lucrative compensation package tied to his amount of time at the
company.

Novell has struggled to morph its business as its once-dominant Netware
network operating system has suffered at the hands of Microsoft's
Windows 2000 (news - web sites) server OS and the Linux (news - web
sites) OS. The company is looking to evolve its business to handle a
variety of software infrastructure tasks and associated consulting services.

No plans were announced to replace Nelson..."

As a shareholder and employee I thank Stuart Nelson for keeping the company going while Schmidt disengaged. I think in the circumstances he did a good job and the only one who showed any leadership...that is until Jack came along.

I am excited to see Stone back in the company, this is good news, actualy better than good the best I have heard for a while!!

Love The Wizard....

>>Nelson OUT --- market reaction positive

Now if Schmidt had thrown him out two years ago, he might have gotten this company moving earlier.

Let's see how many Scott Lemonades follow him out the door. It's like zapping the queen termite.... >>

Give him a big, big bear hug!!

Carry him out of the Castle in a parade with boom bands playing!!

See Scott in the New Parade and let's all celebrate this great occasion for everything is coming back to ONE where we all started. For these Black Hole models of distrust and control are collapsing ALL over this great, wonderful world we all are marching and singing and dancing and celebrating in!!

Cheers!!!

Thanks Paul!

Hello Paul,

Gosh ... and I thought that you had really made the choice to keep quiet until you had something powerful to say! Obviously not!

Instead ... you sit there seething in your misery ... looking for yet another opportunity to blame others for the life that you have created for yourself ... I see it as really too bad ... you really contribute to people when you choose to.

> Nelson OUT --- market reaction positive

What an incredible analysis! (Yeah ... right ...)

Of course, IMHO, I might suggest that maybe it was due to Stone coming in! Or maybe just that Messman is making some tough choices on what to do ... and not just talking about it! The market, IMHO, was ready to hear almost any news that Novell was going to "shift gears" and do something different ... something new.

I can understand where you would rather write a post to trash people, rather than really generate the analysis that you are capable of. You'd rather come out of your hole to spew "evidence" about being "right" then really contributing. Just like Whack-a-mole ...

> Now if Schmidt had thrown him out two years ago, he might

But Paul ... I thought this was your buddy! I thought that you and him were great friends via e-mail, and that you and him were planning the future of Novell while he was engaged. How could you say such a thing about your buddy Schmidt? Are you now going to add Dr. Schmidt to your long list of us who just don't know all of the answers? We all know that Paul knows the truth, and all of the answers! Or is that Fred?? I'm starting to confuse the two of you ... both producing posts of such interesting value ...

I truly wish that you would get off it, and start to contribute to the world like you are capable of contributing!

It obviously is really tough for you to sit there on the sidelines as an "old retired also-ran, almost got there." I can understand how you could be so angry about your own inability to be successful and recognized for your contributions. And with your current attitude, I can see why so few people are interested in the whiner from New York.

It actually fairly common for people to fall deeper and deeper into these "blame the world" slumps, eventually moving away to old folks homes where they can hide out from the world, blaming everyone (but themselves) for the crappy life that they have.

Or, they can choose to own the life that they created for themselves ...
