My posts are not anti-Jewish, but pro-humanity...all humanity, not just Jews.

Rabbi forbids settlers to take flak jackets from Christian donors

By Nadav Shragai

The chief rabbi of the West Bank settlement of Kiryat Arba has forbidden the Hof Aza (Gaza Coast) Regional Council from accepting donations of bulletproof vests from Christian donors who support Jewish settlement of the territories.

Rabbi Dov Lior yesterday confirmed to Ha'aretz that he wrote a response to a question on the matter which appeared on a Torah Web site. In the response, Lior says that, "in principle, since this is done by the church and in the name of Christianity, [the vests] should not be used, since their intention, covertly if not overtly, is to convert Jews to their religion."

The rabbi, however, did add that those vests already donated to settlements in the Gush Katif bloc in the northern Gaza Strip could be used, though no more donations should be accepted from the Christians.

This ruling is expected to have implications for a number of West Bank and Gaza settlements that accept donations from pro-Israeli Christian foundations and organizations. The Christian Friends of Israeli Communities (CFIC) is active in the Karnei Shomron neighborhood of Ginot Shomron, where the director of its Israel office, Sondra Oster Baras, lives.

Baras said yesterday that various Christian groups have so far donated play sets for public parks, computers for schools, libraries, medical equipment, and bulletproof vests to the settlements. The groups have also helped the victims of terror attacks and their families, as well as setting up local emergency centers, for example in Psagot.
