anybody making any money? profits, not revenues or arpu or whatever other bogus measure is trotted out on any given day? what is the profit per subsrciber in any of those networks?

Hmmm....you stated that 3G was unlikely to launch "anytime, anywhere".

The statement was unequivocal.

It was also pretty clearly wrong.

No big deal, you were obviously exaggerating for effect....but the truth still is that 3G is up and working in a couple of countries.

As to your statement on profits...

All of the Korean operators as well as Docomo are profitable.

and what's the top data rate for a real user in a real deployment? that xxxx-do stuff doesn't do voice so why even mention it?

Docomo is seeing end user throughputs of around 200Kbps. We will have to wait a couple of months for the results from 1xEV-DO. You cant reasonably expect real-world answers when the network just launched.

1xEV-DO is considered 3G by the ITU. The chipsets for DO include 1xrtt....the customer doesnt know (and doesnt care) if there are two different networks handling data and voice.
