Everyone knows that he meant half a century and not a century and a half. You are a ...blah blah blah

No, I am serious. I'm sure that if Bush Jr. were given a test and allowed to think about it he would figure out that WWII was roughly 50 years ago. What he doesn't have is an innate sense of that. All these little facts like when this war happened and who was friend and who was foe are just isolated junk from which he has never formed a coherent whole thought. That's why he screws up major facts and doesn't even notice it.

I'll bet all you conservatives thought you were getting someone like Reagan. Someone who was dim but had a strong world view. What you didn't realize is that Reagan actually knew things once, he just forgot the details even though he knew the big picture. Bush Jr. is the guy who never was, he never knew the picture or how to find it, and now he's trying to stick to the simple terrorist speech and still screwing up. You conservatives are even bigger idiots for picking the fool than the fool is for being himself.

Re: "Everyone knows that he (Bush) meant half a century and not a century and a half. You are a nitpicking jackass."

There are two significant dates in this argument:

(1) 1854, when Commodore Perry and seven ships of the U.S. Navy sailed into Shimoda Harbor and established trade relations with Japan.

(2) 1945, when Japan surrendered and Gen. MacArthur became, in essence, a foreign dictator.

One occurred roughly 150 years ago, the other roughly 50 years ago.

Can we be so sure GWB meant a half century and not a century and a half? The answer is no.

Tiger Paw has a valid point, so it doesn't serve your purpose to be so defensive about this latest GWB gaffe.
