Right now, China is selling CDMAONE phones with GSM RIM cards. China is upgrading their CDMAONE network to 1X. If they can build dual mode CDMA1X/GSM phones, they would accomplish 1X/GSM capaability. All they need is the MSM6300.

The MSM6300 chipset and system software enable handset manufacturers to integrate 3G CDMA2000 1X and 2G GSM/GPRS service into a single handset. The MSM6300 solution supports Release A of the CDMA2000 1X standard, offering data rates of up to 307 kilobits per second (kbps) on both the forward and reverse links, along with simultaneous voice and data services. The GSM and GPRS solution is Phase 2+ compliant, supporting class B, multi-slot class 8 data services with data rates of up to 40 kbps on the forward link. User identity is supported in both the R-UIM and SIM standards, with an integrated R-UIM/SIM controller.
