John, “Semiconductor shipments up 15.6%,.Semiconductor orders up 14.2%”
There have been a number of articles re the economy bottoming. I hope the day in day out carping about the Enron mess doesn’t slam the economy. Some guy wants a Federal Bureau of Audits for cryin’ out loud. Imagine all the accountants working for the Feds. Humbug!

“Asked where his proposal would leave the private accountants who now audit America's 17,000 public companies, a Kucinich spokeswoman said they could switch bosses.”

Semiconductor orders might be signaling an upturn here. Orders for computers and communications equipment still stink. (Year over year)

John, “Given the consequences which many tech companies and some non-tech companies would face if S.1940 passes, we doubt that it will pass.”

The computer industry was responsible for the growth that occurred in the 90s. I guess success breeds contempt. Semiconeng was saying that "Intel's Development and Process Engineers were doing 70-80 hour workweeks for MONTHS and MONTHS and MONTHS to get this thing working and transplanted employees were working some 80 hrs per week getting the .13 out."

I hope Greg Jones is right and this bill does not pass.
